Recently, Xiangtan Iron and Steel Group Co., Ltd. successfully developed and delivered NM600 ultra-high-strength wear-resistant steel plates for engineering machinery with a maximum thickness of 80mm in batches. This achievement fills the gap in the field of 600HB high-grade ultra-thick wear-resistant steel in China. The total amount of this delivery exceeded 800 tons, and it took only three months from project establishment to completion of delivery, which fully demonstrated Xianggang's strong technical breakthrough and industrialization capabilities. ​

As a representative of international advanced wear-resistant steel, NM600 needs to have both extremely high strength (yield strength ≥1700MPa, tensile strength ≥2200MPa) and excellent toughness (-40℃ impact energy ≥20J), and the technical threshold is extremely high. Faced with numerous technical difficulties, the research and development team of Xianggang innovated and optimized the steelmaking process, adopted precise hydrogen control technology, significantly reduced the hydrogen content, and effectively suppressed delayed cracking. In the rolling and heat treatment stages, the team overcame difficulties and effectively guaranteed the stability of the plate shape and the uniformity of performance in the thickness direction through the "heated furnace loading + gradient temperature control" rolling process. In the end, the product's first-time performance pass rate reached 100%, and the uniformity of hardness across the entire section (580-640HBW) far exceeded the industry standard. Xianggang was the first to achieve full thickness specifications of 6-80mm, especially the mass production of 80mm ultra-thick plates, which was the first in the industry. According to customer feedback, the wear life of this product under extreme working conditions has increased by more than 30%, which has been highly recognized by international customers, marking a new stage in the process of self-reliance in my country's high-end wear-resistant steel. ​

二、China's wear-resistant steel exports have increased, and its international market share has expanded​

Shandong Iron and Steel Group Jigang has also made important progress in the field of wear-resistant steel. After years of technical development and reserve, Jigang has successfully developed wear-resistant steel plates with Brinell hardness of 360-500HB, with a thickness range of 10-50mm. Recently, Jigang successfully exported 204 tons of JAR500F wear-resistant steel to Peru through a German company. This product is equivalent to the domestic standard NM500. The first successful export of wear-resistant steel has a good effect, and customers have positive feedback. The subsequent plan is to export more than 1,000 tons per quarter. It is predicted that in addition to Peru, Australia, Brazil, South Africa and other countries are also major demand areas for wear-resistant steel. The successful development and export of Jigang JAR500F wear-resistant steel has positive significance in promoting the expansion of domestic wear-resistant steel overseas business, breaking the monopoly of European, American and Japanese products in the international market, and boosting my country's confidence in exporting high-end steel products.

三、Wear-resistant plate technology shines at global mining exhibitions

From April 23 to April 25, Ming World Russia 2025 was successfully held in Moscow, Russia.
